As I exercised each day with others, I thought, wouldn't it be fun to do something like that as a church family...exercise together! So with Devin and Jim's help, we created the Tour De Israel.
This week, we will travel from Jerusalem to Emmaus. Total trip 14 miles. Let's get moving!
Walk to Emmaus--Luke 24:13-35
One thing we know about Jesus was that He was always on the move. He was always on the road somewhere--even after the resurrection. Poor Cleopas and Simon. They thought their dreams had been shattered. Jesus had died on the cross on Friday. And there on the road to Emmaus on (Easter) Sunday, they headed home.
Did you notice what Jesus did? He walked with them, symbolizing the importance of the daily walk with Christ. He talked with them, showing us again the power of prayer. He opened the scriptures to them and underscored the importance of Bible study. He broke bread with them, an obvious plug for communion. And He sent them back to the church. All those things add up to some pretty holy habits where Jesus can bring healing to our hearts when it feels like they've been shattered.
7 miles they walked, 7 miles they ran. Who knows who we will encounter on the road this week!
