What a beautiful picture God painted for us. Here was a woman who was coming to the well for water during the heat of the day. She was an outcast in her village, and because of her sketchy past she came in the middle of the day. Normally, the women came early in the cool of the morning to draw water and visited with one another. Not this woman, she had come for water for her physical thirst, but she encountered Jesus who offered her water for her soul. And she received it! So much so, that she left the water at the well and ran into her village to tell everyone about Jesus who she believed just might be the Messiah. She was one of the first Evangelists!
Today, what is it that our heart thirsts for? Is to be heard and understood? Affirmed or blessed? Loved and forgiven? Whatever the longing of our heart, Jesus has the living water that can quench our thirst. His love for us is the living water for which we have been looking. Come and see!
30 miles, yikes, going to need that water...
