What We Believe
We at Lambertville United Methodist Church believe that every person is a blessing of God. We believe that God is love and that He invites us all to know Him in a way that is beyond our own comprehension. He wants to be our Father, our Redeemer, our Savior, and the one we all turn to in life. At LUMC, you don't have to worry about the past that you are leaving behind. You will be welcomed and can have faith that you will find the grace, mercy, and forgiveness that only a loving God can give.
CORE BELIEFS:
CENTRALITY OF JESUS
We believe that it is through Jesus Christ and His perfect obedience and sacrifice we are fully reconciled with God. As Christ Followers, we confess Jesus, fully human and fully divine, is both Lord who claims our devotion and our Savior whose death on the cross and resurrection secures our forgiveness. Jesus is the Head of the Church Universal and calls us to follow Him in the world. As Christ Followers, we commit ourselves to regular worship of Him and service to His church. His Spirit, the Holy Spirit, fills and empowers us.
AUTHORITY OF SCRIPTURE
We believe the Bible is the unique and authoritative Word of God, which teaches all that is necessary for faith and life. The prominence of God’s Word over our lives shapes our priorities, and the authority of the Bible directs our actions to be in union with Christ’s very best for our lives, leading to ultimate peace and joy. We are enabled to grow daily.
A CHURCH WITH GOOD NEWS
We believe the good news of Jesus Christ for the whole world changes lives. A personal relationship with Jesus Christ changes us and reshapes our our life purpose, giving us real hope and promise. Because God has changed our lives for the best, we want all people to know Him.

UNITED METHODISTS
The United Methodist church is a global church that opens hearts, opens minds and opens doors through active engagement with our world.
John Wesley, the founder of Methodism, and the early Methodists placed primary emphasis on Christian living, on putting faith and love in action. This emphasis on what Wesley referred to as “practical divinity” has continued to be a hallmark of United Methodist today.

Our History
Lambertville UMC has a rich history of following Christ through worship, service, and action.
With a presence that began in 1835, our congregation has a long and storied tradition of sharing the gospel and serving the Bedford community. The church was founded by 10 people who became members of the Methodist community.
Among the more prominent members of our congregation was Ina Duley Ogden. A prolific hymn writer (over 3,000 published works), her most famous hymn was "Brighten the Corner Where You Are," and indeed, LUMC has "brightened the corner" of Dean & Douglas as a neighborhood church.
Today, our membership is at 435, with an average worship attendance between 80-120 people per week. With a dynamic youth ministry and inspirational music ministry, Lambertville United Methodist Church is positioned to continue the legacy of those first members as we share the gospel in our neighborhood community. Come and see!
